Dr. Mary-Anne Lancaster

General Practitioner

Dr Lancaster graduated from Melbourne University in 1986 and has consulted in Balwyn since 1991. She currently also consults in regional Victoria through her work with the Royal Women’s Flying Doctor Service. She is also the past chair of the Eastern Melbourne Division of General Practice and is involved in medicolegal defence work. Her new special interest is cosmetic medicine as well as traditional general practice work.
She has three children and her personal interests are reading, marathon running and writing novels. Her special medical interests are women’s health, children’s health and mature age healthcare. Mary-Anne attends three or four days a week and is currently studying her Masters of Public Health.

Dr. Jane Froster

General Practitioner

Dr Froster has been practicing in Bulleen since 1998 and we now welcome her to Balwyn Health Care. She will be practising four or five days a week and is an experienced practitioner who practices at a high standard in all areas of family medicine. Her special interest is in women’s health holding a post-graduate diploma of obstetrics & gynaecology. Dr Froster has antenatal shared-care arrangements with the Mercy Hospital for Women, Royal Women’s Hospital, and Epworth Eastern Hospital.

 

Dr Edward Tsui

General Practitioner

Dr Tsui has recently practised in Bulleen since 2008 after practising in regional north-east Victoria for several years. We are excited to welcome him to Balwyn Health Care. Dr Tsui is a GP examiner for the RACGP with past involvement in medical student teaching. He has served on the interviewing panel for General Practice training. Dr Tsui has three sons in secondary school and continues to work on developing his acoustic guitar skills and refining his tennis game.

Dr. Bill Savvas

General Practitioner

Bill graduated from Adelaide University, moved to Melbourne in 1983, and settled into his first practice in North Balwyn. With over 40 years of general practice in the area, Bill has seen the many changes in the local districts, the movement of younger families into the area and the development of better health facilities. General Practice always was and always will be his interest in medicine, especially the kids. Recreationally he supports Melbourne Victory in Soccer, Melbourne Rebels in rugby union, and follows Collingwood in AFL. Sorry no NRL team. Bill is married with three children and enjoys his photography and computer.

Dr. John Kondopoulos

General Practitioner

John graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1988. He has lived and practiced in the Kew/Balwyn area for nearly 30+ years. John enjoys all facets of general practice, with particular interests in children’s health, men’s health and counselling.
He is married and is the father of two boys. He’s a keen fan of both Australian rules football and soccer and has coached junior soccer for a number of years. John also enjoys reading, movies, bad golf and spending time with family and friends.
He consults Monday to Friday, and the occasional Saturday morning.

Dr. Abhishek (Ash) Singh

General Practitioner

Dr Abhishek Singh graduated from Notre Dame University, Fremantle Western Australia in 2012. Following this he worked at Box Hill Hospital before completing his fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Prior to doing medicine, Abhishek did his Bachelor in Physiotherapy and a postgraduate diploma in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy from Melbourne University following which he worked for several years as a Physiotherapist. Due to his prior training, he has special skills in sports and musculoskeletal conditions. He has done two certificate courses in skin cancer management and is an Accredited Skin Cancer Doctor, hence provides skin cancer diagnosis and management including procedures. Abhishek covers all aspects of general practice from kids, adults to elderly patients, travel medicine and performs procedures, iron infusion and provides fracture management as well. Abhishek is also trained to perform Implanon insertions and removals.

Dr. Jan Norton

General Practitioner

Dr Jan Norton completed her undergraduate medical training at Flinders University, graduating in 1986. After further studies she was awarded a Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1989 and then trained as a general practitioner, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1994. She then moved from Adelaide in 2003 to practice in Melbourne

Jan’s special interests include, women’s health, preventative medicine and mature age health. Married with 2 young adult children, Jan enjoys playing tennis, skiing and walking the family Airedale Terrier, Maggie. She is available most weekdays and some Saturday  mornings.

Dr. Katherine Lok

General Practitioner

Dr. Lok grew up in Tasmania and graduated from medical school at the University of Tasmania in 1995 with honours.She did her post graduate training in Sydney and Melbourne including terms at The Austin, Royal Children’s and Northern hospitals.She completed her GP Fellowship in 2000 and has completed her Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She has worked in Belmore Rd. Balwyn since 2000 and medical interests include women’s, children’s and travel health, shared care of pregnant patients and care of the elderly.
She is the mum of Ben and Hamish and enjoys piano, gym, travel, skiing and a laugh. She consults every Mon, Wed, Fri and many Sats.

Dr. Vicky Cocotis

General Practitioner

Dr. Vicky Cocotis grew up in Kew. She graduated from Melbourne University in 1986 and completed her training at St. Vincents Hospital. She has worked at the Peter McCallum Cancer Institute and has worked at the Royal women’s Hospital. Vicky completed post graduate training in general practice and has worked at the LaTrobe University Health service. During the last 25 years, Vicky has worked in a general practice setting in Kew East. She speaks Greek fluently and enjoys all facets of general practice. Vicky is married and is the mother of three children: Stacey, Dean and Harris.

Jane Richardson

Practice Nurse

Jane is a Division 1 Nurse and Midwife with over 27 years experience. She has predominantly worked in midwifery roles across her career, and continues to teach antenatal education and work shifts in midwifery when time permits. She loves her General Practice nursing and has a special interest in weight management and allergies and is running clinics in both of those areas.

With a husband and 3 sons, life is busy, but she still finds time to enjoy Yoga and catching up with friends.

Julia Monasso

Practice Nurse

Julia is a Division 1 nurse with many years experience in hospital and general practice environments in Melbourne and Sydney. She has considerable experience at the Austin Hospital in covid testing and vaccination programs. She has further experience in wound care, care plans, paediatric immunization and also in nurse management. She is the mother of two young children.

 

 

Ellie Haralambidis

Practice Nurse

Ellie has been a nurse since 2012 completing her training at Australian Catholic University. She has worked at the Alfred hospital and thoroughly enjoys engaging with patients now in a general practice setting. Her medical interests include wound care, immunizing and mental health. In her spare time she enjoys reading crime novels, gardening, wine tasting and curling up with her cat Dexter.

Sarah Balson

Practice Nurse

Sarah is an experienced nurse who graduated from The Alfred in 1989. In her early years she worked in the United kingdom before returning to Australia and working in orthopaedics at The Avenue, coronary care at The Epworth, clinical nursing and day surgery at Cabrini, anaesthetics and also the spinal and cardio-thoracic units at The Austin. More recently she has been the school nurse at Trinity College and MLC Kew.
